How Orderli Turned Payments Into a Growth Engine

About

Orderli is a hospitality-tech platform that enables QR-based ordering and payments for restaurants, bars, hotels, festivals, food courts, and franchise operators.

“Rootline helped Orderli replace unstable third-party integrations with a unified, scalable payments infrastructure, restoring data trust, elevating customer experience, and unlocking international expansion making payments a core part of their business.”

The challenge

Orderli launched in 2019 as a QR ordering company. When COVID-19 hit, adoption surged. But as Orderli expanded into more complex setups, from individual restaurants to franchise groups and multi-vendor food courts, payments started falling behind the pace of growth and none of the PSPs were there to help.

The stack they had wasn’t built for this kind of complexity. Payment flows were fragile and needed frequent attention. When something broke, it showed up immediately at checkout, causing friction for customers and support pressure for partners.

Reconciliation was slow and manual. Each month meant verifying payouts and cleaning reports by hand.

The turning point

Patching a fragile system would only delay the inevitable. To support real scale, Orderli stopped looking for quick fixes and started looking for a partner to rebuild the foundation entirely. They needed infrastructure.

One API for every layer

From the start, Rootline’s approach was designed to reduce complexity, not add to it. Instead of requiring Orderli to manage multiple providers and brittle connectors, Rootline offered a single API that covered every layer of the payment flow: checkout, routing logic, vendor onboarding, reconciliation, and payout visibility.

Solving the multi-vendor puzzle

The complexity of Orderli's environment, specifically food courts, meant that a single customer order often contained items from multiple vendors. Traditionally, this created a reconciliation nightmare where finance teams had to manually split lump sums and trace funds days later. Rootline automated this entirely. The system now splits the funds at the precise moment of checkout, routing the exact amounts to the correct vendor accounts instantly while simultaneously stripping out Orderli’s platform fee.

Unified infrastructure

Switching to Rootline meant Orderli didn’t need to build separate integrations for simple restaurants vs. complex food courts. Once the foundation was in place, new setups could be rolled out with minimal additional effort.

Automated KYC

Rootline’s automated KYC removed one of Orderli’s biggest bottlenecks, allowing vendors to onboard instantly without manual compliance checks.

Hands-on partnership

Rootline actively supported the rollout, making the integration feel less like a vendor swap and more like building the next version of Orderli’s platform together. After migration, Orderli had a stable backbone to scale with.

Reclaiming time and trust

Moving to Rootline, the Orderli team no longer needed to rebuild reports manually.

  • 7 Days Saved Per Month: Orderli reclaimed over a week of work every month that was previously lost to manual reconciliation. That’s time now spent on innovation rather than spreadsheets.

  • Zero-Stress Reporting: Payment data became reliable without second-guessing.

  • Smoother Operations: Restaurant partners experienced faster onboarding and consistent payouts, significantly strengthening Orderli’s retention and reputation with large hospitality groups.

  • 400% payment growth: Orderli was able to grow their overall payments volume by 400% in a year because they could offer their payments solution to all their partners without worrying about operational costs.

From cost center to growth engine

With a reliable foundation in place, payments shifted from a source of noise to a core driver of Orderli's business model. Orderli can now confidently deploy into new regions and hospitality formats. Clean, granular data means the team can finally see margins and revenue by venue, spotting trends that were previously hidden by bad data. Orderli controls the entire flow now, on their own terms.
