Rootline BV (Rootline), registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under registration number 83218025, is a payment service provider licensed by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). 

Rootline Stichting Derdengelden is a foundation established by Rootline to safeguard third-party funds processed by Rootline as defined in the Payment Services Directive  II.

As the funds in Stichting Rootline Payments' account are segregated from the funds in Rootline BV's bank account, the use of Stichting Rootline Payments guarantees that third-party funds will never be commingled with the funds in Rootline BV's account. This has the advantage that any seizure or bankruptcy of Rootline BV would not affect the funds that Rootline processes for its customers.

Both Rootline and Rootline Stichting Derdengelden operate under the supervision of DNB. Rootline provides payment services to its merchants. Based on a payment contract between Rootline and the partner and/or client merchant, Rootline connects the merchant to acquirers of payment methods such as MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Bancontact, among others.

Rootline's services are limited to processing payments on behalf of the merchant and subsequently settling funds to the merchant's bank account - Rootline is therefore not in any way part of the purchase agreement between the consumer and the online merchant.
